At the tail end of the season, when most teams have got nothing to play for, you sometimes get a football match which turns out to be an absolute cracker.

This could very well be that match!

Arsenal and Newcastle are sitting in 2nd and 3rd places in the Premier League, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Notts Forest all hot on their heels for a place in next season’s Champions League qualifying rounds.

Needless to say, this is a must-win match for both of these teams and after Arsenal’s exit from the Champions League to PSG last week, they will be keen to make amends to their fans in what must be classed as yet another disappointing season.

As for Newcastle, they have impressed so many commentators this season with their exciting style of play and their ability to grind out results when they need to.

We have loved watching them play and winning this match would be the icing on the cake for Eddie Howe’s men.

Odds and Predictions

We were pleasantly surprised when looking at the odds for this match. We feel that the football betting sites have got it just about right, but it plays in our favour as we strongly fancy Newcastle to get a result here.

Arsenal are favourites at odds of 1.90, Newcastle are available at 3.80, while the price for the draw is 3.60.

Eddie Howe will know that if Arsenal don’t take the lead in this match, their fans will become frustrated, Newcastle will be able to capitalise on this and punish the Gunners with the likes of Isak and Murphy up front.

With that in mind, for our first prediction, we are going for a rather ambitious scoreline of 1 – 3 at odds of 34.0. It would be a nice end to the season for us if that prediction came in.

We also like the look of Alexander Isak in the “Anytime Scorer” markets, so the last one of our tips is on this exciting player to score at any time at odds of 2.75.

The last 5 H2H matches have seen Newcastle win 4 and Arsenal win only 1, which just goes to show how much Newcastle have improved over the past couple of years.

Expected Line Ups

If any lesson is to be learned from this season it would be that Arsenal need to spend vast amounts of money to improve their squad, most pundits will agree that it is injuries that have derailed their quest to win the Premier League trophy so it will be interesting to see which new personnel they bring in during the close season.

Newcastle have over-delivered this season, no doubt about that and a player that epitomises the Geordie mentality has to be big Dan Burn.

To many football fans, he is just an average player, but his performances this season, capped by an England call-up up prove that this is a top player who fully deserves all the success he is experiencing.

Arsenal (4-3-3): David Raya; Ben White, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior, Myles Lewis-Skelly; Thomas Partey, Mikel Merino, Martin Ødegaard; Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli.

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Nick Pope; Tino Livramento, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, Joe Willock; Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon.

How Will the Season Pan Out

The Arsenal players will be down in the dumps, another season without winning anything, but they will have to try and pick themselves up against this Newcastle side that is firing on all cylinders.

We actually believe that Newcastle could very easily grab the runners-up position in the Premier League with Arsenal finishing in third place.

Not good news for Arsenal, but the Newcastle fans will be in heaven, and good luck to them because they have always stuck by their team through thick and thin.
