The late afternoon kick-off this Saturday is a mouth-watering affair between Chelsea and Liverpool, a game which is made even more interesting by the dismal display from both teams last weekend.

The ten men of Chelsea lost 1 – 3 at home to Brighton. Having watched the match, we believe that even if Chalobah had not been sent off after 53 minutes, Brighton would still have won, this match as they were superior to Chelsea throughout.

Liverpool were away at Crystal Palace, and we sat open-mouthed at the Liverpool performance. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Palace could have scored four goals in the first half.

They left it until deep into injury time to secure a 2 – 1 win, but this game could have been wrapped up far earlier. Liverpool were poor and it is hard to put a finger on what is wrong with Arne Slot’s team at the moment.

Odds and Predictions

It looks like football betting sites don’t know which way to go with this match, as the odds are very close on all outcomes. Liverpool are the favourites at 2.20, Chelsea are available at 3.00, and the draw is priced at 3.80. After weighing up the options, we think that the most likely outcome is a draw, so the first one of our tips is the draw with a correct scoreline of 1 – 1.

The odds for this correct score are 8.0, which isn’t too bad. To be honest with you, the first one of our predictions was a toss-up between a draw and a win for Liverpool, but we can’t confidently recommend betting on them after last week’s performance.

If you are looking for a further betting interest in this match, we are going for a bet that we don’t usually get involved with, “Half with Most Goals”. We think the first half will be very tight, with the goals coming in the second half, so the bet is “2nd Half” with the most goals at odds of 2.0.

Expected Line Ups

It’s not just Chelsea who are missing Cole Palmer. Football fans from all over the country must be looking forward to his return from injury, as his breathtaking skill can often be the only spark that is needed to bring a boring game to life.

It has unfortunately been reported that he will be out until after the international break, which is obviously good news for Chelsea’s opponents, but not so for the rest of us.

So many players underperformed for Liverpool in their defeat to Palace, especially Mo Salah, who has not performed up to his usual high standard all season. Something is missing at the moment, but it wouldn’t surprise us if one match in the near future, something will just “click” and he will end up scoring a hat trick!

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Robert Sánchez; Marc Cucurella, Jorrel Hato, Josh Acheampong, Reece James; Moisés Caicedo, Andrey Santos; Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernández, Estêvão; João Pedro.

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister; Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo; Alexander Isak.

How Will the Season Pan Out

Liverpool are sitting at the top of the Premier League table so if they can put their last performance behind them and win this match everything will be rosy again, but if Arsenal, who are in second place, can overtake them, the pressure will start to mount on Arne Slot.

If Chelsea loses, they could be pulled down towards the relegation zone and even at this early stage of the season, Enzo Maresca could find his job at risk if he is unable to put a stop to this poor run of form.
