The Premier League season has only just started, but we already have this fixture between these two teams, who are first and third in the table. Arsenal were outstanding in their match against Leeds last weekend, scoring five goals and to be honest, they could have scored more.
Liverpool were involved in a hugely entertaining match away at Newcastle on Monday evening. In front of a passionate home crowd, they walked away with a 2 – 3 victory after an injury-time winner from Liverpool’s 16-year-old sensation, Rio Ngumoha. What a memorable night for him.
The big question is, would Liverpool have still won the match if Anthony Gordon had not been sent off in the first half? We think that they would.
Odds and Predictions
In our opinion, the top football betting sites have been pretty generous when pricing up this match in offering Arsenal at 3.40. We are not saying that we think Arsenal will win, but they are sitting on top of the table, winning both of their games and scoring six goals without conceding.
Liverpool are the 2.05 favourites, and the odds for the draw are 3.60.
We did consider Arsenal for the first of our predictions as this is definitely a value bet, but we have decided to go for the draw. The most likely scoreline is 1 – 1, which is available at 7.50.
For the last one of our tips, we have decided on a Bet Builder bet.
Cody Gakpo was impressive against Newcastle, always looking to attack and set up a goal. While Mo Salah has been pretty quiet up to now, we know from experience how dangerous he can be when Liverpool are surging forward.
The odds on these selections in this Bet Builder are 3.75 and we believe this bet will give us a good run for our money.

Comparison and Statistics
Liverpool and Arsenal have played each other H2H 235 times in their history, with Liverpool winning 89 of these matches, Arsenal winning 81 times, and 65 games have ended in a draw, so it’s been pretty evenly matched over the years.
The last five head-to-head encounters between these teams have ended in three draws and one win each.

Expected Line Ups
Both of these teams are jam-packed with talent, so let’s start with this Liverpool lineup.
Hugo Ekitike must be on the short list for this season’s top scorer award already. He is always a threat up front, and his record of scoring in every game this season speaks for itself.
Mo Salah looks a little out of sorts. The tragic death of Diogo Jota has obviously affected him badly, but you just wait and see, he will soon be back to his old self and more or less scoring goals at will.
In the Arsenal lineup, we have been impressed with Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke, so it does make us wonder if Mikel Arteta has finally got the balance right in this Arsenal team that has fallen short when it matters over the past couple of seasons.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Milos Kerkez, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Conor Bradley; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister; Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Mohamed Salah; Hugo Ekitike.
Arsenal (4-3-3): David Raya; Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber; Declan Rice, Martín Zubimendi, Ethan Nwaneri; Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke.
How Will the Season Pan Out
Both of these teams could lift the Premier League trophy next May, and if push comes to shove, we would predict that Liverpool will finish top with Arsenal runners-up.
A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, though. Will Man City be able to put last season behind them, and what about Chelsea? Will they be up for the challenge?
This match on Sunday can already be described as a “six-pointer”, which is an unusual thing to say this early in the season, but like most football fans, we can’t wait to see how it pans out.
