After yet another international break, the Premier League returns with a vengeance this week. The standout match is the mouth-watering clash between Liverpool and Manchester United. There’s usually a real venom in this fixture, and we expect this encounter to be no different, with both teams under pressure to put in a good performance.
Liverpool will still be reeling after their defeat to Chelsea in the last game before the international break. Dare we say it, they looked a shadow of the title-winning side from last season.
Man Utd put in a solid performance to beat an impressive Sunderland side, so they will be going into this game with their confidence up and fully expecting to pull off a shock result.
Odds and Predictions
It will probably come as no surprise that the football betting sites have priced up Liverpool as the 1.60 favourites for this match. The odds for the draw are 4.33, and Man Utd are available to back at 4.75. We are going to put our necks on the line here and suggest that Man Utd could actually get all three points in this match, but to err on the side of caution, for the first one of our tips, we are going for the draw, and those odds of 4.33 represent excellent value.
A correct score of 1 – 1 is available to back at 9.50, so that is the outcome we will also be having a small investment on.
For the last one of our predictions, we are dipping into the “Half Time/Full Time” market. Man Utd to be winning at half time, with the full-time result ending in a draw.
Odds of 17.0 for this bet, which should give you a run for your money if you are watching the game live on TV.
Comparison and Statistics
Liverpool and Man Utd have played each other head-to-head a total of 216 times in their history, with Liverpool winning 83 of these games. Liverpool have won 72, with 61 games ending in a draw.
The last five H2H matches between the two teams have seen Liverpool win once, Man Utd win once, and the other three games ending in a draw.

Expected Line Ups
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: there is something not quite right with Mo Salah, so far this season, as well as a complete lack of form, that trademark demeanour of a player who is enjoying his football is missing.
Alexander Isak has also not “clicked” yet, and we believe that the lack of form of these two players is the main reason why Liverpool are not sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
As for Man United, you just have to listen to Gary Neville on one of his many rants about the mentality of the Man Utd team, but to be honest with you, we couldn’t have been more impressed by their performance in the last match before the international break.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Giorgi Mamardashvili; Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch; Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo; Alexander Isak.
Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Senne Lammens; Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw; Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu; Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha; Benjamin Šeško.
How Will the Season Pan Out
Even though it is still so early in the season, Liverpool must get their act together quickly because as well as Arsenal above them in the table, there are half a dozen teams breathing down their neck, waiting to take advantage if they slip up in any way.
It is a similar situation for Man Utd. Even though they are further down the table in tenth position, a few bad results could see them slipping down the table towards the relegation zone.
