Most punters had high hopes for these teams at the start of the season. Surely, both Man City and Man Utd would be able to put last season’s campaigns behind them, but unless they both get their acts together, it could easily be a case of “same old, same old”.

Whilst only three games have been played, Man City find themselves in 12th position in the Premier League, and Man Utd are just above them in 9th.

We watched Man City’s defeats against Spurs and Brighton, and to be honest with you, they were nothing like the team that ruled UK football only a couple of years ago. It was very disappointing, to say the least.

As for Man Utd, their season so far can be summed up by their Carabao Cup defeat against Grimsby from Division 2. “Embarrassing” is the only word we can use to describe that performance, and there were strong rumours that Ruben Amorim would resign after that match.

Odds and Predictions

It looks like the football betting sites are siding with Man City on this one, making them 1.66 favourites with the odds on Man Utd coming in at 4.75 and the draw being priced at 4.0.

Even though both teams have underperformed this season, don’t forget that this will be a hard-fought local Derby. Both managers know how important it is to the fans, so bearing that in mind, we are going for a draw at 4.00. We think that those odds represent decent value, so that’s where our money will be going.

The second one of our tips is on the correct score market and a result of 1 – 1, odds of 8.50 is also good value and worth a small investment in our opinion.

Finally, for the last one of our predictions, we like the look of Bruno Fernandes in the “To Score at Any Time” market, worthy of a small stake at odds of 4.0.

Expected Line Ups

When you look at these two lineups, it is difficult not to be impressed. When you add two top managers into the equation, the mind boggles as to why these teams have had such a poor start to the season.

For City, Haaland looks like he’s up for it again this season, scoring five goals for Norway on Tuesday evening.

We also like the look of Bryan Mbeumo for Utd. We think he will prove to be an excellent signing, but both teams have to get their act together quickly!

Manchester City (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rúben Dias, John Stones, Matheus Nunes, Tijjani Reijnders, Bernardo Silva, Rodri; Omar Marmoush, Oscar Bobb, Erling Haaland.

Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Senne Lammens; Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw; Patrick Dorgu, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo; Joshua Zirkzee.

How Will the Season Pan Out

How the season pans out for these teams depends on how quickly they start to put in some solid performances. Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal are looking good, and if City and United are not careful, those teams will start to pull away, which will put an enormous amount of pressure on these Manchester rivals.

The season has only just started, but as it stands, these two will struggle to finish in the top six at the end of the season.
