Both of these teams have made an excellent start to the 25/26 season, Tottenham beating Burnley 3 – 0 and Man City impressing with their 0 – 4 win away at Wolves.

We watched both matches and couldn’t have been more impressed. Man City, in particular, looks like they have regained their old form after a disastrous campaign last season.

The appointment of Thomas Frank as Tottenham manager was a shrewd move. In our opinion, he is one of the best managers in English football. The job he has done at Brentford over the last seven years is impressive, and if Tottenham can incorporate the same style of attacking football, their fans will be over the moon.

Odds and Predictions

Whilst both teams played very well last week, it was Man City who impressed us the most with their victory away at Wolves. Wolves are a difficult team to play against, but they were never in the game against a domineering City team.

The best football betting sites have made City favourites at 1.42, which is a little bit tight in our opinion, but we do think that they will win this game. A 2 – 0 scoreline at 9.50 offers good value, so that will be the first one of our predictions.

Even though Man City brought in some exciting talent in the transfer window, it was Erling Haaland who was a constant threat to the Wolves.’ defence, It was almost as if he had something to prove, so for the last one of our predictions, we are going for Haaland to score the first goal at odds of 3.60.

Those odds aren’t too bad, so that is where our money will be going.

Expected Line Ups

You can’t help but look at that Man City lineup and be impressed. The addition of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan was a brilliant piece of business, and he could be the key to Man City challenging for the Premier title this season.

Spurs are still reeling from the news that James Maddison will probably be out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle, devastating news for the player who must have been hoping for a call up to the England world cup squad next summer.

Spurs fans will be hoping that the rumours about signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace are true, as he will be a wonderful replacement for Maddison.

Manchester City (4-3-3): James Trafford; Rayan Aït-Nouri, John Stones, Rúben Dias, Rico Lewis; Nico González, Bernardo Silva, Tijjani Reijnders; Jérémy Doku, Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb.

Tottenham Hotspur (3-5-2): Guglielmo Vicario; Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven; Djed Spence, João Palhinha, Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Pedro Porro; Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison.

How Will the Season Pan Out

At this stage of the season, it is too early to tell. Liverpool were impressive last weekend, as were Notts Forest in their victory against Bournemouth, but we can see Manchester City being there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

Tottenham could be the dark horse of this campaign. We saw what the manager achieved at Brentford, so with Spurs’ spending power, a top-six finish could very well be on the cards.
