It’s been a long old summer for football fans in the UK, but the weekend we have all been waiting for is finally here with Premier League football making a welcome return.
This match is an absolute cracker. Man Utd fans, in particular, must be over the moon with the business the club conducted during the transfer window.
Beating Newcastle to the signature of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and prizing Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford shows that the intent to impress this season is definitely there.
Arsenal can also boast of some excellent signings, including Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. But one thing is for sure: the pressure will be on Ruben Amorim and Mikel Arteta to finish higher up the Premier League table than they did last season.
Odds and Predictions
The top football betting sites are obviously basing the odds for this match on last season’s performances and to be honest, who can blame them.
The odds on a Man Utd victory are 3.40, Arsenal are the 2.05 favourites and the price for the draw is 3.50.
The first matches of the season are usually tight affairs, so for the first one of our tips, we are going for a 1 – 1 draw. This scoreline is priced up at 7.50, which isn’t too bad for those looking to have an interest, but we would recommend small stakes at this stage of the season.
For the last one of our predictions, we are hoping that Bruno Fernandes can carry on his excellent form from last season, so the bet on him “To score at any time” at odds of 3.60 looks good to us.

Comparison and Statistics
Manchester United and Arsenal have played each other head-to-head 244 times in their history, with United winning 99 of these matches, Arsenal winning 90 and 55 matches ending in a draw.
The last 5 H2H matches between the two teams have seen Arsenal winning three times and two matches ending in a draw.

Expected Line Ups
England fans will be hoping Luke Shaw can have an injury-free season in anticipation of the World Cup next year and be a prominent figure in Ruben Amorim’s team.
As for Arsenal, the very fact that most of their long injury list from last season look to have now recovered will be seen as excellent news, in particular Bukayo Saka who is another player who will want to impress this season bearing next year’s World Cup in mind.
Manchester United (3-5-2): André Onana; Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro; Patrick Dorgu, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Amad Diallo; Bruno Fernandes; Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha.
Arsenal (4-3-3): David Raya; Myles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber; Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard; Gabriel Martinelli, Viktor Gyökeres, Bukayo Saka.
How will the season pan out
Both of these teams must do well this season, so getting off to a good start is of paramount importance.
We think Arsenal will be there or thereabouts next May, but we can’t help thinking that last season was their big chance to lift the trophy, and they ended up blowing it.
After last season’s dismal display, Man Utd could be the surprise package when you take into account that they have a top manager and have invested heavily in the transfer market, but to be honest, you could say that about so many of the teams in this division.
Taking that into account, we believe that Arsenal will be lucky to achieve a top three position whilst Man Utd should be able to achieve a finish in the top six.
