We’re only four games into the new season, and it already looks like Man Utd have not improved at all from the nightmare of last season.
We watched them get hammered last week by Manchester City. Even though City dedicated their victory to the Manchester legend Ricky Hatton, who tragically passed away on the morning of the match, the United performance was lacking in all areas of the pitch.
It’s difficult to see Ruben Amorim staying as manager for much longer if this standard of play continues, but who is there to replace him? Every manager that Utd have brought in over the past few years has supposedly been the best in the business, but every one of them has failed.
We were impressed by Chelsea in their last Premier League match against Brentford, that was until they conceded an injury-time equaliser. But they do look like a team who are on the up, and it will be a big task for United to get a result in this encounter.
Odds and Predictions
It’s quite unusual to see a match so closely matched by the football betting sites. The odds for a Man Utd win are 2.60, Chelsea are the slight favourites at 2.45, and the price for the draw is 3.80.
To be honest, after watching every game that these two teams have played this season, we can’t see anything other than a Chelsea win. We think that United will put up more of a fight than they did against City, but Chelsea will be too strong for them over 90 minutes.
A bet on a 1 – 3 scoreline at odds of 19.0 is worth a very small interest, and we will also be getting involved with the Half Time/Full Time market.
The chances of the score to be level at half-time and then Chelsea winning after 90 minutes look good to us, and the odds of 6.50 for this outcome are not bad at all.

Comparison and Statistics
Manchester United and Chelsea have played each other H2H 192 times in their history. With United winning 81 of those matches, Chelsea has won 57, with 54 games ending in a draw.
The last 5 head-to-head matches between the two teams have been evenly matched, with Man Utd and Chelsea both winning twice and one game ending in a draw.

Expected Line Ups
We have said it so many times before, but this Man Utd team looks so good on paper. The only problem is that when it comes to actually putting in a decent performance, they are so often sadly lacking.
The same can be said for Chelsea, but you can see a definite improvement, and that should be of little wonder when you take into account the amount of money they have spent.
Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Altay Bayindir; Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro; Philip Dorgu, Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Amad Diallo; Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes; Benjamin Šeško
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Robert Sánchez; Marc Cucurella, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, Malo Gusto; Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández; Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto
How Will the Season Pan Out
We still think that Man Utd will be challenging for a top six finish this season, but not necessarily with Ruben Amorim in charge. The United team is packed full of talent, and it may just take a new manager to light the touch paper and set off on a decent run of results.
As for Chelsea, a top-three finish must be on the cards, but a lot will depend on their six-pointer games against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
It looks like Villa and Forest could be in line for a poor season, so that will obviously be good news for these two teams, as there will be less quality competition at the top of the table.
