- England followed their 7-0 win over Croatia with a convincing 3-0 victory against Czechia.

- Tuchel’s side look freer and more aggressive, but major-tournament pressure remains the real test.
England suddenly look like a side enjoying their football again. Thomas Tuchel’s men ended a positive Nations League window with a 3-0 victory over Czechia, adding another convincing performance after dismantling Croatia 7-0 only days earlier.
That run has changed the mood around the national team. Anyone assessing England through football betting sites UK will see a team pressing harder, attacking with greater freedom and looking considerably more comfortable than they did when their World Cup campaign ended against Argentina.
Kane and Bellingham Lead an England Side Playing with Freedom
Harry Kane again provided the cutting edge against Czechia, scoring twice on the night he made his 125th England appearance and drew level with Peter Shilton’s long-standing men’s caps record. Jude Bellingham subsequently described his captain in glowing terms, another reminder of Kane’s status within this squad.
Yet England’s improvement goes beyond Kane’s goals. His first against the Czechs came after Elliot Anderson released Morgan Rogers, whose first-time delivery found the captain. It was sharp, direct and technically excellent, exactly the sort of football England struggled to produce consistently when the pressure increased at the World Cup.
The biggest improvement for me is the intent. England are pressing opponents rather than waiting for matches to develop, and their attacking players appear less restricted. That suits a squad containing Bellingham, Rogers, Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon far better than cautious possession ever will.
Nations League Form Cannot Answer the Biggest Question
The difficult part is judging how much these performances really tell us. England are close to securing a Nations League quarter-final place, but this competition does not carry the same pressure as a World Cup or European Championship knockout match. That distinction matters after Tuchel’s tactical retreat against Argentina contributed to England’s latest tournament disappointment.
Tuchel also believes England enter summer tournaments at a disadvantage because so many of his players endure demanding Premier League seasons, often playing more than 60 matches for their clubs. Managing that fatigue will become important if England reach the Nations League finals.
There is still plenty to like. Wembley supporters were singing Tuchel’s name against Czechia, which would have seemed unlikely immediately after the World Cup. The challenge now is keeping this bravery when England meet an elite opponent in a match they cannot afford to lose. Nations League success would build confidence, but the real judgment will come when Euro 2028 arrives.
