How Does Trixie Betting Work and Is There a Strategy?

A Trixie requires three selections and they can come from any area of your chosen sportsbook. Just find three bets that you like the look of and you can then combine them to form your Trixie bet system.

As with all patent betting, the Trixie betting definition confirms that this is not a straight line multiple. For example, a treble would also consist of three selections but, if just one of those picks failed, the customer’s stake would be lost.

In contrast, when we ask how many bets in a Trixie, the answer is four. The combination consists of three doubles and a treble. If no bets win or just one selection lands, no returns are sent back to the customer. Two winning selections would offer a small profit but what we’re really aiming for is for all three selections to win. Our six bets would all return and we would then claim a very sizeable financial reward.

In terms of strategies, a Trixie is no different from any sports wager. Research into forums and other relevant statistics such as head-to-head results can be the key to unlocking profits.

So How Do I Place a Bet?

Trixie bet is a treble to which three doubles have been added

The first step is to find your three likely stakes. They could come from a football match, a horse racing meeting, a tennis tournament or any event that is listed by your chosen sportsbook. For the purposes of this example, we’re going to say that we’ve looked at a typical weekend’s football fixtures in the Premier League. Having considered the games, our three selections are for Everton to win, Manchester United to win and Tottenham Hotspur to win.

We now click on the respective odds in the same way that we would for any sports bet. The next phase will vary slightly depending on which bookmaker you are using, but it should still be very straightforward.

When you click on three selections, your virtual betslip is likely to default to a straight line treble. Meanwhile, there should be a separate tab on that slip which could be marked as ‘system’, ‘formula’ or ‘patent’. An option to place a Trixie bet will appear and the customer will now need to choose their stake before confirming.

Don’t worry about a bet calculator, Trixie returns will clearly be shown by your chosen sportsbook. It’s all about keeping things transparent and customers have to be shown their outlay, along with any potential returns.

The matches are now played and, if none of Spurs, Manchester United and Everton win, the stake will be forfeited. Similarly, if only one team wins, there is no return coming back to the bettor. We need at least two successful bets for any return, while the aim is to see all three selections win. When that happens, all four of those Trixie stakes - three doubles and a treble - win and we earn a much bigger profit.

Can a Trixie Bet Be Used as Part of a Betting Formula?

Patent and multiple bets do not traditionally work well inside a formula. If we are looking to use systems such as Martingales, Reverse Martingales and Fibonacci, then it pays to keep things simple by using single bets.

One of the reasons for this is that we need to keep the odds as simple as possible. A single bet at Even Money is the perfect option for those types of formulas and it’s going to be very difficult to find a Trixie bet that comes in at 1/1 on a regular basis. Similarly, a patent bet with a higher level of exposure is not ideal for a formula. We’re really looking for a single bet - win or lose.

However, if your own Trixie bet calculator does happen to identify an ongoing set of bets that come along at the same price each week, then it may be possible to apply Trixie to one of the simpler formulas.

Let Us Show Some Examples of How to Use Trixie

In order to place a Trixie bet, you need to place four bets on three different selections. The winnings depend on the number of selections and the odds of each one. A Trixie bet contains no single stakes, so two of the selections should win in order for a return to be gained on the bet.

Here are the bets that we place:

Double bet 1 states that Manchester City and West Ham United will win.

Double bet 2 states that West Ham United and Leicester City will win.

Double bet 3 states that Manchester City and Leicester City will win.

The treble bet states that all three teams selected will win.

We have 3 games:

Leicester City / Chelsea – we choose to bet on Leicester.

West Ham / Burnley – we choose to bet on West Ham.

Manchester City / Tottenham – we choose to bet on Manchester City.

In a nutshell, this is a simple multiple bet that allows you to combine 3 selections to either win or be placed.

Our advice is to avoid using Trixie bets for any type of formula. Always wager what you can afford and do not forget that there is always a bit of luck with every strategy.
